“I Can’t Open the Attachment”: English for Asking for a Different File

I can’t open the attachment.
I can’t open the attachment. No puedo abrir el archivo adjunto.

Someone emails the document you have been waiting for. You open the message, tap the attachment and get an error. Or the attachment is not there at all. The good news is that you do not need to pretend you read the file. Say what happened, ask for a safe alternative and confirm that the new version works.

The Big Idea

Different file problems need different requests. A missing attachment, unsupported format, expired link and “access denied” screen are not the same issue. Describe only what you see and ask for the smallest sensible fix using an official sharing channel.
