GRIFTER’S TALES

VANCOUVER · OCTOBER 2026

By Colin Lee MacLeod

A mini beef pho for $4.25. My verdict: killer.

A small bowl worth a note

Chao Mami Express made it into my trip notes for a very simple reason: a mini beef pho that cost $4.25 on my visit and tasted good enough to remember. It was a small find, and it earned its place.

The exact cents matter more than the rounded headline. This was a mini portion, and that was the price I recorded in October 2026. I am telling you about my bowl, not promising a current deal.

Value is part of the adventure

Travel stories do not all need a spectacular view or a complicated plan. Sometimes the useful thing is noticing an inexpensive meal that gives you exactly what you were after.

I like keeping these finds beside the larger experiences. They tell a more complete story of a trip: where the money went, what was worth it, and which small decisions made the day better.

Grifter’s Takeaway

Keep the small finds. Good value and a satisfying bowl are worth remembering.
