THE PIRATE’S COOKBOOK

Real food from working boats

Feed the crew. Keep moving.

I cook all three meals aboard the Aqua Service alongside my deckhand duties. These recipes come from that working rhythm: prepare what you can, keep it refrigerated when you step away, and return ready for the next stage.

Recipe 001 · Aqua Service Salisbury Steak

Recipe coming soon — quantities and method are being checked.

Beef and sausage patties with Grandma’s gravy, buttery mash and vegetables. The first recipe is built around staged preparation and saving the potato water for the gravy.

Everything is in the prep

  • Plan the meal around the workday.
  • Prepare ingredients in stages and refrigerate perishables between jobs.
  • Record the amounts, temperatures and results so the next cook can repeat the meal.

More from the working galley

Steak and prawns, double-stuffed potatoes, and the Deckhand Deluxe breakfast sandwich are on our recipe list. Each will get its own tested method and real cooking notes.
