GRIFTER’S TALES
WHISTLER · PANGEA
By Colin Lee MacLeod
A wide pod, a curtain, and a familiar feeling from Japan.
Enough space to settle in
Pangea in Whistler reminded me of Japan. My pod was wide, comfortable, and screened by a curtain. The location worked perfectly for me. After travelling, that combination felt right: a place to sleep properly without needing a whole apartment around me.
I slept for nine hours. That is a useful review in itself. I also got laundry done—my notes recorded nineteen dollars for that at the time. Ordinary maintenance belongs in a trip just as much as a night out.

What a good bed gives back
Accommodation does not have to be the main event to shape the day. A comfortable sleep and clean clothes change how you meet the next morning. The pod also brought a little familiarity into a new setting, which made it memorable.
This is what worked for me on that October visit. A curtain and a compact sleeping space will not be everyone’s preference. For this traveller, they did the job beautifully.

Judge a place by what you need from it. A good sleep can be the best feature.
